Katy Perry Stuns Fans with Hair Transformation, Fueling Speculation of Celebrity Doppelgänger
In the midst of a year filled with astonishing celebrity hair makeovers, Katy Perry has joined the ranks, revealing a fresh new look that has once again sparked rumors of a secret Hollywood twin. The 38-year-old pop star showcased her revamped style in a video promoting her new line of sparkling, adaptogen-infused non-alcoholic apéritifs called De Soi.
Perry ditched her signature cascading brunette waves in favor of a feathered updo complemented by chic curtain bangs. Embracing the textured and tousled fringe trend, popularized by the likes of Dakota Johnson, Alexa Chung, and Emily Ratajkowski, Perry’s unexpected addition to the French fringe club has been met with enthusiasm.
Eagle-eyed followers of Perry may recall that she briefly debuted this hairstyle back in April for an episode of American Idol. In the Instagram photo she shared, Perry sported a silver carpenter jacket and black leather gloves, giving fans a glimpse of the look.
Although Perry did not feature the fringe during her performance at King Charles III’s coronation or at Tiffany & Co’s star-studded event celebrating the reopening of their flagship store on 5th Avenue, some speculate that this fringe redux could indicate a renaissance of the style.
However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that the recently posted video by Perry was also filmed back in April. Consequently, this fringe fantasy will have to be short-lived.
Nevertheless, the renewed buzz around Perry’s hairstyle has reignited the rumor that she and Zooey Deschanel are secret twins. Perry herself once confessed to impersonating Deschanel in the early 2000s, leveraging their uncanny resemblance to gain entry into clubs.
During an Instagram live conversation in 2020, Perry recounted her experiences: “When I first got to L.A., I went to the club. A lot. And I wanted to get into the club, but I had no money, I had no clout, I had nothing, and sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club.” Deschanel, in turn, recalled people approaching her, mistaking her for Perry: “People were like ‘I saw you!’ But I’m such a goody-two-shoes, and people kept going like, ‘I saw you out! I made eye contact with you!’… Everybody kept telling me about you, ‘This girl Katy, she looks just like you,’ and I’m like, ‘Who is this Katy?’ And then when I first met you, I was so relieved because you’re so pretty, and I was like, ‘Oh, thank God. She’s so pretty.'”
It remains to be seen how Deschanel will respond to Perry’s twinning fringe moment, but fans are eagerly awaiting her take on the resemblance.
