Becky Hammon, the current head coach of the Las Vegas Aces and WNBA Coach of the Year, is reportedly among the candidates being considered for the Toronto Raptors’ coaching job.
The team recently fired former head coach Nick Nurse, and according to sources, several NBA assistant coaches including current Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, Golden State’s Kenny Atkinson, Milwaukee’s Charles Lee, Phoenix’s Kevin Young,
San Antonio’s Mitch Johnson, Sacramento’s Jordi Fernandez, Memphis’s Darko Rajakovic and Miami’s Chris Quinn are also on Toronto’s radar. The search may also extend to ex-NBA head coaches and NCAA coaches.

Hammon has already made history as the first full-time female assistant coach in one of North America’s four major men’s leagues and the first female acting head coach in the NBA.
During her eight seasons with the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach, she was often floated as a candidate for NBA coaching vacancies.
Hammon is a six-time WNBA All-Star and a four-time All-WNBA team member. She is also part of the WNBA’s 15th, 20th, and 25th Anniversary teams and was recently named as part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2023.
